We left our house in Escondido on Thursday at 10:30 am with Bob and Penny who drove us to a hotel near the LAX Airport to spend the night. On Friday morning our flight left for Panama, a six hour flight. Then we took another plane for Santa Cruz, Bolivia, a five hour flight. We arrive at Bolivia at four in the morning. Then we took another plane at six for Cochabamba. Thant's only a one hour flight. Our friends Luis and his wife Elizabeth, along with Cora were waiting for us. Cora is the director for Christ for the City in Cochabamba. We all piled in Luis' little pick up truck and arrived our final destination: Christ of the City's guest house in Cochabamba. It is a three bedroom house, one bathroom, a kitchen with a breakfast nook and a living room-dining room combination. Two of the bedrooms have bunk beds and sleep four, we get the master suit with a bed. a desk and an armoir. Luis went to get "saltenas" for breakfast, a kind of turnover filled with meat. We had breakfast and caught up with each other.
My computer went into hibernation and would not re-start, so we went walking with Luis and Elizabeth to find help. First we tried Elizabeth's brother who was at his church rehearsing for something. This was a Pentecostal church. The pastors and some of the women were all wearing red shirts. I supposed this was a choir or something. The place look like an old school building. We sat on a bench on a hall and Elizabeth's brother went inside looking for a plug. He couldn't re-start the computer, either. I'm a little slow when it comes to problem-solving computers, but by that time, I sort of suspected that the battery was too low for the computer to re-start, but we walked to another place. There a young woman just pushed the start button, and it started! W.e celebrating by going to have milk shakes at a cafe, then went back to the house. I just plugged the computer overnight, and it is fine today. I think it has to do with the plug adapters that I have. The plugs are different here, and the electricity is 220. After that, we took a long nap. We had dinner and went to bed early.
Today, Sunday, we went to church. They had a great worship team. I was just thinking that here we are, so far away from home, but still in the Lord's presence. It is such a feeling of safety and security in His arms. We took a taxi from church to the wide avenue where the nice hotels are and had a good lunch with Cora. Then all three of us walked all the way back to the house. Surprise! There is no water. We have to go upstairs to the office to use the restroom. We are planning to rest again tonight.
I got the pictures below from the internet. I will take some shots tomorrow.
Until next time...from 8,000 feet up high...
